In 2018, my husband Adrian and I started this campaign with one simple goal: to spread the joy of reading to children and families everywhere. We wanted to make sure every child had the chance to experience the magic of books, and with our initiative, “Making a Difference, One Book at a Time!”, we’ve been doing just that.
Over the past seven years, we’ve been able to donate more than 6,600 TORC books to communities across the U.S. and Canada. These books have found their way into schools, hospitals, Little Free Libraries, and charities, reaching children from all different backgrounds. Making a Difference, One Book at a Time! #SMILESwithTORC
The #SMILESwithTORC's "Making a Difference, One Book at a Time!" program reached out 1,070 Little Free Libraries in 29 US States (Washington State, Montana, Oregon, Utah, California, Nevada, Florida, Arizona, Idaho, Alaska, Wyoming, South Dakota, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, North Carolina, Georgia) and 2 Canadian Provinces (British Columbia and Alberta).
From the total of 6,600 TORC books donated, 3,573 books went to Little Free Libraries in the USA and Canada and 3,027 books to different Charities that Support Children in Need, Schools, Children’s Hospitals in Washington State, California, Arizona and Nevada.
The #SMILESwithTORC Charitable Campaign focuses on bringing the joy of reading and discovery to children from all walks of life. Children will be able to let their imaginations wander the globe with TORC the CAT on his adventures.
TORC visited a total of 15 Little Free Libraries in Flagstaff, Arizona, where he donated 36 books.
