TORC visited a total of 15 Little Free Libraries in Flagstaff, Arizona, where he donated 36 books. The first-time finders got a coloring book as a bonus to the matching TORC the CAT children's books.
61% of low-income families have no books at all in their homes for their children. An analysis of a national dataset of nearly 100,000 United States school children found that access to printed materials - not poverty - determines reading levels.
TORC loves the Little Free Library book-sharing movement, because it plays an essential role by providing 24/7 access to books to famillies in areas where they are scarce. The more books in or near the home, the more likely a child will learn and love to read.
