Olympia Little Free Libraries visited by TORC the CAT

Making a Difference, One Book at a Time! #SMILESwithTORC

TORC visited a total of 19 Little Free Libraries in Olympia, Washington, where he donated 44 books. He visited 4 LFL on March 10th and 15 LFL on July 6th 2019. The first-time finders got a coloring book as a bonus to the matching TORC the CAT children's books.

TORC is a beautiful rescued tuxedo cat from Washington State. He has 2 book series based on his kind and adventurous nature.

TORC loves the Little Free Library book-sharing movement, because it plays an essential role by providing 24/7 access to books to famillies in areas where they are scarce. The more books in or near the home, the more likely a child will learn and love to read. But two out of three children living in poverty have no books to call their own.(Source: Little Free Library Org)

15% of children in Washington State live in poverty. Early-learning opportunities are inadequate to meet families’ needs. Living in poverty is stressful, and kids suffer that stress along with parents. The increased stress of living in poverty has been linked to negative health impacts including higher rates of depression and chronic illnesses.(Source: https://childrensalliance.org/child-poverty)
